Team

Our founding team consists of highly experienced engineers with a strong record of successful technical projects from inception through production. As a founding principle, we have decided to apply the lessons and talents acquired after many decades to accomplish Evergaze's highly humanistic mission. Even though much of our technical knowledge is derived from the commercial, industrial and defense industries, it is all coming together to achieve this technologically breakthrough product that would not otherwise be possible. seeBoost® is the result of extensive consultation with a variety of stakeholders in low vision, including patients, practitioners, and researchers.

Patrick Antaki

Co-founder, electrical engineer and president

Pat has over 30 years' experience as a technology entrepreneur. He founded, managed or materially assisted six technology start-up companies in the role of management team member from inception through the processes of business planning, Venture Capital fundraising, key personnel recruitment, and early-stage product development. He has consulted on technical matters for clients such as IBM, Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard (now Agilent), DSC Communications (now Alcatel), Texas Instruments and Compaq. Patrick has won numerous contracts from the Department of Energy (smart-grid technologies), the Department of Defense and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). Patrick received his BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT (1984), and has been awarded 14 U.S. patents, with more pending. Patrick is an avid Judo-ka.

Ronnie Dunn

Co-founder, optical engineer

Ronnie has over 40 years' experience as a mechanical, optics and systems engineer, engineering manager and technology entrepreneur. Ronnie has particular expertise related to the development and manufacturing of optical systems, including head-mounted displays, and in the presentation of electronically captured images to the human eye for the performance of various tasks (e.g., helicopter piloting). Ronnie was a co-founder of Silicon Display, Inc., a company that developed a sub-$100 high-quality head-mounted display intended to compete with notebook computer LCD monitors. His extensive and broad experience in both commercial and defense opto-electronic technologies and products is a significant contributor to Evergaze's price/performance competitive positioning. Ronnie received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas (1967). Ronnie enjoys the traditional Arkansas hobbies of hunting and fishing, and telling not-too-tall tales.

Russell Lemburg

Co-founder, software engineer

Russ has been actively developing application and embedded software and has been involved in the full development lifecycle of hardware and software applications for over 12 years. He has collaborated on exciting and challenging engineering projects with Pat since he was a freshman in high school. Russ received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) in 2012, where he led the development of an early prototype of seeBoost, which won First Place at UTDesign. To relax, Russell plays chess.

Scott Bettis

Director of Manufacturing

Scott Bettis joined Evergaze in January, 2016. Scott has over 20 years' direct experience in the manufacturing of electronic systems, components and semiconductors. Scott's most recent responsibilities at VLSI Packaging (12 years) included the technical and managerial aspects of manufacturing implanted medical pacemakers, including the establishment of a new surface- mount production line. Previously, Scott was employed at Marlow Industries and at Texas Instruments in similar roles. Scott served in the US Air Force for 6 years. He earned his degree in Applied Science from the University of North Texas in 2004.

JD Layton

Mechanical Engineer

JD is a mechanical design prodigy. He has been designing mechanical devices since high school, ranging from large sheet metal BBQ smokers, to ultra-precision semiconductor wafer alignment systems, to military aircraft exterior light assemblies. JD is responsible for the complete mechanical and thermal design of the miniature seeBoost device, including manufacturability, fixturing, and product quality. Like Russ, JD has worked on various projects mentored by Pat, since high school. JD graduated with two BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2013. When he's not working, JD builds robots.

Ajax

Company Service Dog

Ajax joined the company after two weeks of being born. Ajax has provided significant moral and entertainment support for the development team, as well as early warning detection of US Postal Service personnel. Ajax loves to swim, run, and be pet. Naturally, he is extremely well fed and enjoys a diverse menu, consistent with the company's policy of good food equals good work. Ajax has not yet earned a degree, but he's eager.
